Is There a Cultivation MMO? The 2026 Answer, Game by Game

Disclosure: we make a cultivation game — a single-player text roguelike, not an MMO — and it is mentioned once at the bottom under its own heading. Nothing else here is ours. Where we could not confirm a game's status from an official source it is marked "unconfirmed" rather than guessed.

On PC, in English: no. There is no English-language cultivation (xianxia) MMORPG online in September 2026. The two that existed shut down — Jade Dynasty in 2018, Swords of Legends Online in 2023 — and the two strong current ones, World of Jade Dynasty and Legend of Mortal Cultivation, are Chinese-only. On mobile there are four small English ones, none rated above 3.9. What English speakers actually play instead is wuxia — Where Winds Meet above all — or Roblox. The rest of this page is the receipts.

Online, Chinese only

Perfect World International deserves its own line because it is the game most people mean when they say "the old cultivation MMO": it is still online in English in 2026 (an expansion update went live in September 2026), but it is Chinese-mythology fantasy built on the Pangu creation story, not a game of realms and ascension. Perfect New World, its would-be successor, has sat on Steam as "coming soon" since 2023 with no reviews. Tale of Immortal, the biggest cultivation game on Steam, is single-player only — people ask, so it is here.

These are the honest answer to "cultivation MMORPG in English", and the ratings tell you why nobody recommends them unprompted. Immortal Clan: Grandmastery (Efun, Steam and mobile, tagged massively multiplayer) is a sect-management sim with alliances rather than a shared world, and Overmortal is an idle RPG with cross-server PvP — both get called MMOs and neither is one.

Persistence without other players: what we make

The thing people want from a cultivation MMO is usually not the crowd — it is a world that persists: a sect that remembers you, an enemy who does not reset, a breakthrough you cannot take back. That part does not need other players; it needs an engine. Blade RPG's Death Challenge (ours) is a single-player, text-only cultivation roguelike in the browser where an AI narrates and a separate engine holds your realm, injuries, spirit stones and grudges — and where death is permanent. Your spirit root is rolled once. There is a public ledger of how far people got before the world killed them, which is as close to a server as we come. Do not pick it if you wanted guildmates and a raid schedule; it will not give you either. If it was the persistence you wanted, 40 turns are free →

FAQ

Is there a cultivation MMO in English?

Not on PC. Four small ones on mobile. The audience plays wuxia — Where Winds Meet — or Roblox instead.

Is Perfect World a cultivation game?

Perfect World International is Chinese-mythology fantasy, still online in English. Perfect World Mobile calls itself xianxia and is closer, but thin.

Is Tale of Immortal multiplayer?

No, single-player only, on PC and mobile.

Is World of Jade Dynasty coming to English?

Nothing announced. Fan patch exists; NA/EU folders were found in the client; the Taiwan/SEA server needs a local phone number.

Which shut down?

Jade Dynasty and Swordsman Online (2018), Swords of Legends Online (2023), Revelation Online West (2024), Moonlight Blade West (May 2026). See the timeline above.

What about a cultivation game that is not an MMO?

Every cultivation game on every platform, the Steam buyer's table, and the phone list.

No server. One life. The world still remembers.

Text only, browser only, 40 free turns, no card. Roll a spirit root and see how long you last.
