Cultivation Games on Mobile: Android and iOS, Sorted Honestly

Disclosure: we make a cultivation game that runs in a phone browser, and it is in the "free, no install" section below, labelled. It is text-only and not for everyone; the two paid ports at the top of this page are better at most of the things people search this phrase for. Store prices and ratings are a snapshot of 2 September 2026.

Two things changed in 2025 that most "cultivation games for Android" lists have not caught up with: the two big Steam sims got official mobile ports, and the idle-MUD shelf grew to the point where it is hard to tell the good ones from the reskins. So this page sorts the phone shelf by what you are actually buying into — a premium port, a free idle MUD, a gacha, a text sim, a Roblox experience — and lists each game's own top complaint from its store reviews.

The two real ports

Tale of Immortal (鬼谷八荒) — $9.99, Android and iOS

The genre's flagship open-world sim, ported by its own studio (WENXIN Games). Android has 50,000-plus installs at 4.4 stars from about 1,700 ratings; the iOS version arrived on 15 July 2025, is a 2.1 GB download, and sits at 4.4 from a small number of ratings. English, Korean and Chinese interfaces. The complaints are the ones you would expect from a PC game on a phone: a quest-blocking bug reported after 100-plus hours, touch fatigue with no controller support, and no in-game guidance for a system that assumes you have read a guide. It is still the only phone game on this page that is the full thing rather than a slice of it.

Amazing Cultivation Simulator (了不起的修仙模拟器) — $9.99 Android / $12.99 iOS

GSQ Games' sect-and-colony sim launched internationally on mobile on 3 June 2025 (China had it from December 2023), in English, German, Japanese, Korean and Chinese, with only cosmetic in-app purchases. Ratings are modest — 4.2 on Google Play from about 290, 4.4 on the App Store from a couple of dozen — and the complaints are launch crashes, a blueprint-save bug, and menus hidden behind the iPhone notch. If you liked the sect-politics chapters of the novels more than the duel chapters, this is the phone version of that.

The idle MUDs: free, huge, and monetised hard

"MUD" on a mobile store page means a text-heavy idle game, not a multiplayer dungeon. These three dominate the category, and all three are Chinese-developed imports published through Hong Kong or Singapore entities.

GameStore numbersPurchasesTop complaints in its own reviews
Immortal TaoistsGoogle Play 4.5 ★ from ~284,000, 5M+ installs; App Store 4.7 from ~27,000Free, ads, IAP $0.29–$179.99Adverts that show a different game entirely; a spirit-jade paywall; breakthroughs that feel rigged to fail; ads crashing the game. Six-plus years old and still the biggest.
Overmortal (LTGAMES)Google Play 4.2 ★ from ~28,000, 1M+ installs on the US listing; App Store 4.8 from ~16,000Free, ads, IAP $0.99–$99.99Accounts wiped after inactivity; pay-to-win PvP; misleading ads; crashes; an unmoderated chat. Describes itself as a text-based card RPG. Western launch August 2023.
Infinite Cultivation (WINDFORCE)Google Play 4.6 ★ from ~11,200, 100K+; App Store 4.7 from ~1,500Free, ads, IAP $0.99–$99.99A translation that "could use a professional run through"; ads that crash; "everything is done automatically". Tick-based idle MUD.
WuXia World (Dust Gaming)Google Play 4.4 ★ from ~12,800, 500K+; App Store 4.2, on the store since 2017Free, IAP to $99.99Inventory expansion behind a paywall; confusing systems; auto-feature bugs. Strictly wuxia (jianghu, no realms) rather than xianxia — its cultivation sister title is Chinese-only.
Journey to Immortality (FUN GAMES STUDIO)Google Play 3.7 ★ from ~1,500, 100K+; the original is not on the US App Store (only a "Journey to Immortality 2" pre-order)Free, IAP $0.99–$99.99The one whose reviews call it "a true cultivation game" and "not pay to win" — and then complain that the late game is buggy, confusing and grindy. A 2018-era MUD-style RPG.

The gacha and "active-play" imports

Three big-name apps that come up in these searches are not cultivation games despite the word "Immortal" in the title: Immortal Rising (dark-fantasy idle), Immortal Awakening (a Diablo-like) and Idle Immortal: Mythic Clash (mecha-beasts). Skip them if realms and spirit roots are what you came for.

Text cultivation games on a phone

The small idle ones (so you can tell them apart)

XianPath: Idle Cultivation (indie, 4.6 from ~180, translation gaps and freezes) · Cultivation Simulator: Idle Qi (3.3, "good for an hour") · Immortal Simulator: Idle Game (2.9 from ~470, 50K+, a forced-ad "inner demons" gate) · Immortal cultivation idle game (Hedohaac, 3.4, and reviewers note it has no offline progress, which for an idle game is the whole point) · Idle Cultivation by Riverstar (3.5, UI cut off on phones). Note that the App Store app called "Idle Cultivation" ($0.99, an offline MUD by a solo developer) is a different game again, and neither is the $3.99 Steam game of the same name. The complete idle shelf across every platform is on idle cultivation games.

Roblox, if that is where your phone lives

Free, nothing to install: browser text games on a phone

A browser tab is the one "platform" every phone has, and it is where the free non-idle options live. Blade RPG's Death Challenge (ours) is a text-only cultivation roguelike: an AI narrates, a separate engine holds your realm, HP, qi, satiety and injuries, your spirit root and four attributes are rolled once and locked, and death is permanent — no reload, no revive for sale. It runs in Safari or Chrome on any phone, saves to the cloud, and gives 40 turns free with no card and no password. Don't pick it if you wanted something to leave running in your pocket — every idle game above does that and we do not. If you wanted to be able to lose, start a life →
